Taichung Kindergarten Cup
In the eyes of the world, the year 2006 was a big year on the soccer/football
calendar, due to the FIFA World Cup. In the eyes of the Taichung
public, it was also a significant year, as it saw the launch of
the first Kindergarten Schools soccer league.
The Taiwan Football Association has recently stressed to need to
restructure soccer/football in Taiwan. The newly-established Taichung
Football Academy is leading the way with Taiwan’s first annual
Kindergarten School soccer/football competition.
Starting in September, Taichung City hosts a kindergarten schools
league consisting of sixteen to twenty schools participating in
a competition running over a nine month period. There is a
Chinese New Year break of one month. Each school participates
in a monthly game with the final game being held at the end of June.
All games take place on Saturday mornings. The fixture list
and full program is finalized on the completion of entries.
Due to the enthusiastic response we have had from kindergartens
surveyed on the project, we base school entries into the competition
on a first come first served policy. The final registration date
will be August 31st.
